Porcelain Dental Veneers

If a person has been told by their dentist that they should consider porcelain veneers for some kind of dental issue they have, first of all, they probably are wondering what exactly these are. Second, they want to know if they are a good idea to get. And third, they would like to hear what other people who have them are saying.

My dentist recommended that I get porcelain veneers because I basically chipped off half of one of my front teeth. Every time I looked in the mirror, I felt like I was dressed up for Halloween. When it dawned on me that this is how I could look for the rest of my life, I really began to freak out. Also, I was extremely scared that any time that I would try to eat something, especially something hot or cold, I would have a lot of pain. I actually lost weight over the first couple of days because I was afraid to eat. I went to the dentist right away and he recommended that I get porcelain veneers. I didn’t even know what those were.

Basically, porcelain veneers are small sheets of porcelain that can be attached to the front of teeth. They are used in cases like mine, when a person has chipped teeth. They can also be used when a person has discolored teeth and whitening products don’t work. Basically, at any time that a person has some kind of cosmetic dental problem, some kind of veneers are going to be recommended. Porcelain is usually recommended the most because it looks natural. When a person has these applied to their teeth, most people cannot even notice. Once I decided to get them, I was surprised that no one ever even notice that I had them. The only people who noticed them were the ones who knew about my chipped tooth.

Before I actually decided to get the veneers, I did some research on them. I wanted to make sure that I was making the best decision for my dental situation. I knew that once I got them, I would not be able to turn back. I was worried because I read about other people who had problems with wearing down their natural teeth that came in contact with the veneers. My dentist recommended that I wear a mouth guard when I slept, and I have not had any problems with my bottom teeth wearing down.
